Former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart states that Manchester United currently boasts a player with traits that echo Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players to ever wear the Manchester United jersey in the modern era, and finding a successor to the Portuguese star has always been a quest for the Red Devils. However, discovering players with extraordinary talent like Ronaldo is no easy task.
But in his latest remarks, Manchester City's goalkeeper Joe Hart believes the Red Devils now have a player whose qualities strongly recall Ronaldo. That player is Benjamin Šeško.
Speaking on the Match of the Day program, Joe Hart commented: “He is a young forward with exceptional brilliance, showing a bit of Cristiano Ronaldo in his style of play. And Bruno Fernandes knows how to maximize his potential. Bruno understands how to position Šeško in advantageous spots to score.”
Joe Hart's statement has gained much agreement, as the Slovenian striker shares many qualities with the legendary number 7. Both Šeško and Ronaldo possess ideal height for their eras, and despite their size, they are not slow but rather very quick. Šeško also demonstrates impressive leaping and aerial ability, reminiscent of Ronaldo at his peak.
Of course, Šeško still has a long way to go to be compared to Ronaldo, but he is making an impressive start at Manchester United. The Slovenian striker had a somewhat slow beginning to the season after his high-profile move from RB Leipzig. In the first half of the Premier League season, Šeško scored only two goals. However, under Michael Carrick's guidance, his form has noticeably improved.
Šeško has scored six goals in his last seven domestic matches. Notably, his last four Premier League goals have all been clutch finishes, deciding matches for Manchester United. In total, the 22-year-old striker has helped Manchester United earn an extra 7 points in their last 5 games.
Without Šeško's goals, Manchester United might have fallen to 6th place instead of firmly holding 3rd as they currently do. It has been a long time since Old Trafford welcomed a striker who shines so brightly and delivers when the team needs it most.
Gary Neville also praised Šeško's significant progress during his current breakout period. Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Manchester United defender said: “Šeško is full of confidence, and the goals he's scoring are truly impressive. The goal against West Ham, the one against Everton—they were all outstanding finishes. Right now, Carrick is helping Šeško perform at his best. That could be the game-changer for Manchester United.”
